Artist's Description
This is one of nine mosaic dragons depicted on Nine Dragon Wall in China's Forbidden City. Built in 1771, it is located in front of the Palace of Tranquil Longevity. The estate was once the home of the Emperor of China, and is located in the heart of Beijing. It was the center of Imperial China during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1416 -1911).
About Anna Lisa Yoder
I’ve been capturing images that tickle my brain ever since my parents handed me my first camera in 4th grade- a well-loved old Brownie Starflex. My “thing” is lighting—the more natural, the better. Back-lighting and worm’s-eye-views have become near-obsessions. This may mean lying down in a ditch to see some brown-eyed Susans from below, and there’s the fun. My greatest joy in photography is its way of etching moments in my memory. That singular ray of light or fabulous color which would otherwise get forgotten becomes like an old friend when I process or view the image...

Anna Lisa Yoder replied:
Thank you so much, Colette! It was even more cool to see that wall in person. The tile work is gorgeous. I loved "collecting" dragons while in China-- every one has its own character.
